$15.00
14th Century
The Florentine Quartarola was a silver coin equal to that of one quarter of a Silver Grosso. Florence was one of the few nations to have a bi-metallic monetary system that included both Gold (Florins) and Silver (Grosso). It displays the Giglio bottonato, the floral emblem of the city, on the obverse of the coin and St John the Baptist, patron saint of Florence, on the reverse.
